Slow Cooker Split Pea Soup

Ingredients

  • 1 (16-oz.) pkg. dried green split peas, sorted and rinsed
  • 1 bone from Carando® Spiral Sliced Ham - Bone-In - Hickory Smoked, with leftover meat
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup chopped carrots
  • 1 cup sliced celery
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

Preparation

  1. Combine all ingredients in 4- or 5-quart slow cooker. Add water to fill 1-inch from top.
  2. Cover and cook on LOW setting for 10 to 12 hours (HIGH: 5 to 6 hours).
  3. Remove ham bone; cut off any remaining meat. Dice meat and return to soup.
