Broccoli and Ham Chowder

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups chopped broccoli, fresh or frozen
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons margarine
  • 3 cups 2% milk, divided
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 cup (4 oz.) shredded American cheese
  • 1/2 lb. Carando® Spiral Sliced Ham - Bone-In - Hickory Smoked, chopped

Preparation

  1. Combine broccoli, celery, onion, margarine and 1/2 cup milk in large pot. Heat, covered, 10 minutes or until vegetables are tender-crisp.
  2. Blend flour into 1 cup milk; add to vegetables along with remaining 1 1/2 cups milk, parsley, basil and chili powder.
  3. Stir in cheese and ham. Heat until cheese is melted.

Serves 4
